Course Outline

Differentiation, the Mean Value Theorem. Riemann integration, Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. Metric spaces, including topology, convergence, compactness, completeness, and connectedness. Uniform convergence of functions. Selected additional topics.

Students are expected to attend all lectures and complete all tests, assignments, and examinations. No aids are permitted in tests and examinations. Regular homework is an essential part of the course; it is the student's responsibility to keep up with the assigned homework and to seek additional help if and when it is needed..

Midterms & Assignments - 60%; Final Examination - 40%. No calculators or other electronic devices or any other aids are allowed on tests and exams..

Homework will be collected biweekly.

  1. Assignment 1. Due Thursday, Sept 26 in class.
  2. Assignment 2. Due Monday, Oct 10 in class.
  3. Assignment 3. Due Thursday, October 31, in class. The deadline is extended till Nov 1.
  4. Assignment 4. Due Thursday, Nov 14 in class.
  5. Assignment 5. Due Friday, Nov 29 in class.

Tutorial meets every Thursday 11.30 AM - 12.20 PM in MC 107. Some of the material discussed during the tutorial will be posted here.

There will be 2 in-class midterms: October 18 and November 15. Please mark these dates in your calendar.
