Complex Analysis I :: Winter 2010

Coordinates: Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:00 - 1:30 PM in MC 108.

Textbook: Complex Analysis by T. Gamelin published by Springer (UTM series). The book is available at the Western bookstore.

Final Exam: The final exam will be on Thursday, April 8, 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM in MC 108. The exam is open books, open notes. There will be no class on Tuesday, April 6.

Papers: Some papers relevant to the course

Course Description: This is a continuation of Math 3124. We will cover the second part of the textbook which includes Rouche's theorem, the Schwarz reflection principle, the Riemann mapping theorem, and other topics.

Prerequisites: Sufficient background in one complex variable.

Assignments: There will be 4 or 5 homework assignments. These will include routine exercises as well as some challenging problems.

Examination: There will be a final exam at the end of the semester. The exam will be open books, open notes. Graduate students may be given additional problems.

Evaluation:

  1. Homework = 70%,
  2. Final = 30%
